Second Anniversary

Today is the second anniversary of my blog. What better way to mark it than with another extract from Donne’s poem, The Progress of the Soul: the Second Anniversary?

We see in authors, too stiff to recant,
A hundred controversies of an art;
And yet one watches, starves, freezes & sweats,
To know but catechisms & alphabets
Of unconcerning things, matters of fact;
How others on our stage their parts did act;
What Caesar did, yea & what Cicero said.
Why grass is green, or why our blood is red,
Are mysteries which none have reached into.

The debate about the nature & purpose of education is a never ending one
